Sailing the Messinian Islands
Your opportunity to visit one of Greece’s top hidden gems
In Western Messinia, opposite the coastal town of Marathopoli (or Marathos as it is called by locals), lies the island of Proti. Its name derives from the sea god Proteus, son of Poseidon. That is why, according to mythology, Proti Island resembles a crocodile: when Proteus would become angry, in his wrath, he would be transformed into a beast and take the form of an island. Sailing to one of the Messinian Islands will make you discover a Greek paradise!
Sail in the turquoise waters of Proti and the other Messinian islands from Marathos or Pylos marina together with an experienced and hospitable skipper. You may also enjoy the experience of island hiking, snorkeling, as well as underwater fishing.
