A day of “wild” discovery in Mt. Parnassos National Park

In this family 4X4 Forest Adventure, discover mystical nymphs cave, cross the Mt Parnassos wild National Park and savor a traditional Greek picnic in Central Greece.

After a ride in the dense fir trees forest, we make the first stop at Eptastomos cave, where only experienced alpinists can enter using rappel techniques. The surrounding forest feels like a mystical setting, where, as the locals say, the nymphs used to appear. We crawl on a rocky peak secured by our team, to overlook at the cave from the entrance. The cavern is about 110 meters deep and lodges the southern glacier in Europe.

Back in our jeep we drive for about an hour. We walk for 20 minutes following an easy ascending path in the heart of the forest to reach Neraidospilia (nymphs cave), an underground karst cave with stalactites, stalagmites, pools and fossiliferous rocks. It is composed of 3 different rooms.

Depending on the season and the level of water inside the cave we visit two or the three of them. Before ending our journey, we visit the small but lavishly beautiful, Vargiani village with its mere 85 residents that has been designated a listed traditional settlement. After walking through the village and discovering all its pretty corners we enjoy a cup of coffee on its picturesque square.

How to book

This family tour is ideal for families with children from 6 years old and teens. It operates from May to October and it cannot be booked independently, but as part of a multi-day tailormade trip in Greece.
